HELPING ABUSED, NEGLECTED, AT-RISK CHILDREN AND YOUTH.

Our Mission

ShelterKids, Inc is a private nonprofit organization consisting of local professionals and committed volunteers who are interested in youth issues and provide funds and in kind donations for abused, neglected and at risk children and teens that receive services through the Salt Lake County Division of Youth Services. Through the efforts of ShelterKids, programs for youth in prevention, early intervention and education and training are enhanced.

Our Programs

Crisis Residential

Provides food, laundry and shower facilities and overnight shelter for homeless youth under age 18. 24 hour, 7 day a week. The youth stay until a guardian can be contacted and a service plan developed. Available in SLC and Riverton locations.

After school programs

Currently offered in Kearns, West Valley and Magna. Students can participate after the parents have signed registration forms. Youth activities include: dancing, multi-media, DJ classes, sports, community service and homework help. 

Milestone Transitional Living Program

Housing for males and females ages 18-21 who are facing homeless-ness in Salt Lake County. Homes are located in West Valley and Sandy.

Emergency Shelter Care

Provides emergency residential placement for youth 12 to 17 years old that are taken into state custody for alleged abuse and neglect. While staying at the Group Homes, youth receive health, medical and dental screening, transportation and participate in recreational activities.
